braided fence

In those areas where many types of trees grow, you can find fences made in the form of a palisade, tyn or wattle fence. The wicker fence appeared a very long time ago. And in our modern age of stone and metal fences, wicker is quite rare, although such a fence looks very original and beautiful.
Braided fence from branches
It is easiest to make a fence from alder, willow, birch and hazel rods, since this material is thin and obedient. You can find braided cattail or reed. Such a wicker tyn is original, beautiful and environmentally friendly. It is easy to build, and it is quite inexpensive. However, such a decorative wicker fence will not last long, and its protection against foreign penetration is weak.
Rods for weaving a fence should be harvested in early spring or late autumn. The collected branches should be well dried and stored before starting work in bunches. 15 minutes before the start of work on the manufacture of braided rods, the rods must be soaked in water. This will give the vine more flexibility and plasticity. As a basis for a wicker fence, you can use wooden stakes or metal rods. You can weave branches both horizontally and vertically.
If you want to paint such a wattle fence, then the rods should first be cut off and then painted. Such a wattle fence can be coated with a solution of potassium permanganate, iron sulfate, stain or matte varnishes. If you like unpainted tyn more, then you don’t need to remove the bark from the rods.
Braid can be built from pvc rods. Such a plastic braided fence will be more durable than a product made from natural branches.
Fence from boards Austrian wickerwork
Not so long ago, another type of wooden fence appeared — Austrian vertical and horizontal wicker. The technique of making such a wooden fence is similar to weaving a fence from branches, but instead of thin rods, boards are used here. The weaving itself can also be both vertical and horizontal.
The wicker fence from the boards reliably protects from the wind, however, the fence itself can be easily blown through. As supports, metal, concrete or wooden poles can be installed. Boards are taken three meters long. Moreover, the material can be both unplaned and smooth, although with a planed board the fence will look more presentable.
To decorate the wickerwork from the boards, you can install the so-called houses — covers for the top of the posts. This will give the fence a finished look, as well as protect its ends from getting wet. Special flashings covering the seams can also become an additional decor. The lower closing crossbar is installed to complete the entire composition.
