Polycarbonate carport

A very popular roofing material now is cellular polycarbonate. A carport made of polycarbonate in the country is light, relatively inexpensive and durable. It is UV and strong wind resistant. The standard length of one sheet (210×600 cm) allows you to create designs of different shapes. And the ease of installation makes it possible to build with your own hands. Manufacturers offer a wide range of colors, which differ not only in decorative properties, but also in light transmission.

So, colorless polycarbonate transmits 80-85% of the sun’s rays, brown 40-45%, and red only 10-15%. The differences do not end there, the sheets differ in thickness, which varies from 4 to 12 mm. For a small canopy, the thinnest polycarbonate 4-6 mm is suitable; for more complex and large structures, it is better to choose a thicker material.

Wooden carport

A wooden carport in the country is also very popular. Often a tree is chosen for the construction of supporting structures. In this case, you can use timber, boards and other elements. Their cost is low, you will need basic carpentry tools for work, so you can make a wooden canopy for your car to the country house yourself. The biggest disadvantage is that wood rots faster, its service life is shorter than that of metal. However, you can use special paints and impregnations, which significantly increase the service life.

Carport made of corrugated board

A carport made of corrugated board is also very popular in our summer cottages. This design is lightweight, resistant to corrosion, wind and relatively inexpensive. In stores, corrugated board differs in color, thickness, profile and price. When buying, consider not only the standard, but also the useful width of the sheet, as the material is overlapped. The laying technology is simple — the sheets are overlapped from the bottom up and screwed with self-tapping screws with clamps with a rubber lining. The joints are also fastened together.

Metal carport

A carport made of metal tiles is built to create a single architectural solution with the house. This design improves the appearance of the entire architectural ensemble. When building a canopy in a country house made of metal, it is important to take into account many details: the dimensions of the cells of the roof slope, the length of the sheets of roofing material, the material of the supports, and so on. Such work is carried out by specialized construction companies, although if you have experience in construction, the work can be done with your own hands.

Ondulin carport

Ondulin is often called euroslate. In fact, this is an ordinary slate with a color coating. The advantages of such a canopy will be light weight, low cost, environmental friendliness and ease of installation. The disadvantages of euroslate are:

1. Relatively short service life — 10-20 years.
2. A soft roof carport will not withstand large amounts of snow.
3. Ondulin is able to burn.

A carport in the country is not so much a luxury as an urgent need. It will protect your iron horse from corrosion and burnout, make getting into the car more comfortable in bad weather.
