Bamashania — nowhere less …

[ad_1]

Less than this plant I met only bryozoan and moss. The height of the bamashania bush does not exceed 4 cm. And this, along with flowers 🙂

I accidentally came across a photo on the Internet with a landscaped garden path: unusually attractive pillows with lilac flowers grew among the stone slabs in the crevices.

Several hours of searching and the plant was identified. But the information about him «the cat cried.» However, this is enough to appreciate the attractiveness of bamashania for landscaping.

Yes, its diminutiveness does not allow you to create beautiful flower arrangements — it will simply get lost in them. But the flowering grass looks great among the stones. And this is not surprising — this is a natural habitat for him.

Bamashania loves the sun, tolerates frosts down to -23 C, but it is advisable to cover it for the winter, especially if the winters in your area are not snowy. After all, the leaves of this plant remain green and can be damaged by icing.

I don’t want to upset you, but this plant is extremely rare in our gardens due to the lack of planting material on sale. Because there is so little information on floriculture sites.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO KNOW

Drained soil is an important condition for planting bamashania, since the plant does not tolerate waterlogging. Therefore, before planting, sand is mixed into the soil, and the soil surface is mulched with crushed stone chips.

BAMASHANIA IN GARDEN DESIGN

Since bamashania has all the properties of a groundcover, it is they who determine its place in garden design. Most often these are rockeries and garden paths.

COMBINATION IN SHAPE AND COLOR

Bamashania blooms for a short time and most of the warm period is represented by a dense rug or curtains of velvet leaves. It is this property that allows you to combine this plant with any others that do not obscure it.

But the best partner for this flower, of course, is a stone.

REPRODUCTION AND TRANSPLANT

Bamashania is propagated by seeds, sowing them before winter directly on the site. After undergoing stratification under natural conditions, some of the seeds germinate and give hardened individuals.

The second method of reproduction is rooting cuttings. An adult plant is a well-developed fleshy creeping shoots, covered at the ends with small leaves. Any of them is suitable for rooting, you just need to break it off and plant it in moist soil.

Do this procedure in early spring or late summer.

The seedling method for growing bamashania is not used, since it does not tolerate transplantation.

Before planting cuttings (seeds), the soil is prepared: mixed with sand, a little ash and slaked lime are added. The stalk is planted in pre-moistened soil and moderate moisture is maintained in it for the entire rooting period (about a month).

Stones in the landscape as an element of decor

No matter how good the bright flowering greenery of the garden is, but without contrasting and, at the same time, complementary components, it looks somewhat monotonous. It is on the contrast of the living and the dead, the mobile and the static that the most perfect landscape is built. It’s in nature.

Majority ornamental gardens captivate with their spontaneity, «unkemptness» and primitiveness. For someone, the artistic mess in the garden was born by itself and acquired a finished look thanks to the intuition of the creator.

Any living space should have a window for sunlight to enter. And it, according to building codes, has a size no smaller than 1/8 of the floor area. And this means that if you decide to “dress” this window in a textile outfit, then in the end on the wall …
