Zharki or lights call these flowers in Siberia, where I spent my childhood. Because they «burn» with a hot, fiery orange color.

And here, in Ukraine, this is a bathing suit (kupava) with modest yellow flowers. They call it that because it lives near water bodies, near bathing places.

In Europe, they believe that this is the favorite flower of the trolls … I wonder if someone asked the opinion of the trolls at the same time?

And the flowers are really good: quite bright, as for species, up to 8 cm in diameter, with lush greenery in adults, which does not lose its decorative effect until autumn. They bloom in late spring — early summer, three to five weeks. For the first summer flowers, this is quite a decent time. And also a bouquet from a bathing suit for a long time stands in the cut, starting flowering from the topmost central bud and gradually dissolving those located below.

The swimsuit is very fond of moist rich soils and sunny places. Under such conditions, flowering will be plentiful, and the bush will form lush.

This flower will grow and bloom in partial shade on poorer soil, but humidity is a prerequisite.

To maintain soil moisture around the plant, it is loosened (depth is not more than 3 cm), watered and generously mulched, and if possible, provide drip irrigation until autumn.

The above method of mass growth of individuals will not work, therefore it is recommended for summer residents and amateur gardeners.

And professionals prefer pre-winter sowing of seeds, in extreme cases, artificial stratification (2-3 months in the refrigerator, sowing in a greenhouse in March). The laying of seeds is done on a loose substrate with little or no penetration into the ground. An increase in temperature will provoke growth and shoots will appear in a month. Such individuals will bloom only in the third or fourth year.

When transplanting a bathing suit to a new place, it should be taken into account that already at the stage of five developed leaves, the length of its rhizome reaches 15 cm. Therefore, the best way to grow it is in containers (buried in the ground), and they are already transshipped into a hole in a permanent place. The hole is filled with soil with the addition of peat. During the entire warm period, organic matter (humus, compost) is poured under the bush.
