Decorative fences for every taste

[ad_1]

Do you know the feeling of small space in a completely empty room when the walls are so close?

But everything suddenly changes as soon as you start to furnish this room with furniture.

And, here’s the paradox, the furnished room doesn’t look that small after all.

The secret of resizing lies in the optical illusion.

So in the closed space of the yard, everything suddenly changes if it is divided by small (below the eye level) or «transparent» fences. All kinds of furnishings (in the yard these are elements of the landscape) give the space dynamics, and their competent arrangement blurs the boundaries and visually increases the area.

An area that is too long can be divided into small and cozy areas by means of higher and more impenetrable partitions.

Decorative fences can mark the boundaries of territories inside the yard: recreation areas, gardens, parking lots, etc.

Low fences are an excellent backdrop for flower plantings, higher ones serve as protection from the wind, hide secluded recreation areas from prying eyes.

It makes no sense to use the same type of fences throughout the territory:

  • a fence near the house should impress its design style, the facade of the building;
  • in the garden, symbolic fences made of wood are more organic;
  • a recreation area, in general, it is better to enclose a living fence — this is both protection from curious neighbors, and a wind screen, and, with an appropriate choice of shrubs, a flowering, fragrant hedge; The only pity is that it grows for a long time.

For playgrounds or summer cottages, original “funny” picket fences are suitable. Wooden planks are painted as your heart desires, the main thing is that the pattern matches the exterior of the site.

You can always plant a flower mix or border along the decorative fence.

It will also serve as a support for climbing plants: sweet peas, honeysuckle, climbing roses.

Juicy greenery and bright colors of flowers will stand out favorably against the background of wood, or contrast with a painted fence.

Stone fences enliven with unpretentious plants for alpine slides. True, for this, during laying, empty gaps between the stones should be left and then filled with soil «putty» (earth + moss + water).

In addition to flowering alpine herbs, unpretentious succulent plants can also be used for landscaping.

Almost any material can become a decorative fence: beautiful thick branches devoid of bark, slab trimmings stuck into the ground, a thick rope sagging between poles.

Well, the photo above clearly shows how to effectively apply what can be found in any forest: dried trees and broken off thick branches.

Yes, this is not a fence, but a gate with a gate, but why not an idea for a small decorative fence made of wooden beams and dry branches?

And if you decide to make a Russian wattle fence or a Ukrainian fence with your own hands, do not take on extended structures: such a fence will live for five years, and it will take a lot of effort to build.

For those who decide to use a gabion as a fence, I recommend putting a wide sanded and varnished board on it, and a couple of pillows to get additional seating.

Slab (wane) can serve as an original, albeit short-lived, fence for flower beds.

And it’s absolutely wonderful if the bark is preserved on it.

Or maybe take stones instead of wood?

Connect low support posts with two or three parallel unedged boards or poles — you will get an original fence in ethnic style.

If you are not satisfied with the transparency of a simple fence of poles, fill it with bunches of thin rods, as in this photo.

decorative fences

A fence made of poles encloses not only paddocks and vegetable gardens. This fence looks great inside the perimeter of the site.

There is no more perfect color for a fence than gray wood. This neutral shade emphasizes and enhances the discreet beauty of rustic forbs.

And one more thing: the larger the landscaping elements, the more massive it is to make the details of the decorative fence.

EThe effect of an old darkened tree can be achieved if the material is treated with a solution of copper sulphate. For those who wish to keep the light color, I recommend covering the fence with yacht (alkyd) varnish or other specialized coating for wood. But in any case, wooden elements should be pre-treated with an antiseptic.

A mischievous picket fence with miniature birdhouses is a great backdrop for greenery, especially if it’s white or purple.

I don’t know how appropriate such a “funny” picket fence is in a private courtyard, but I think that it is quite suitable for fencing a playground …

The advantage of white picket fence can be clearly seen in this photo.

In general, the calm colors of the wildflowers and the soft pink of the flower queens on white simply shine.

True, the rhythmically alternating color combination of flowering perennials played an important role here.

An easy way to stay within the bounds of good taste is not to pile up a lot of dissimilar objects in a space.

It is best to choose a couple of discreet elements and repeat their combinations in different parts of the yard.

So for this decorative fence they chose stone, poles and attributes of rural life.

Nothing more can be added. Even against the background of mowed grass, the yard environment looks beautiful and self-sufficient.

A fence made of metal supports and horizontally welded pipes was decorated with bamboo strapping.

5 boards and two supports — that’s the whole design of this fence section. Well, in order for the pillars to stand longer in the ground, they were sprinkled not with soil, but with expanded clay (this is very clearly visible in the photo). Stone chips or rubble will have the same effect — they will serve as an excellent drainage system.

Lattice sections of a wooden fence always look attractive. And even if they cannot be called strong enough — the fence is still decorative anyway. But, if they are treated in a timely manner with a protective compound, they will serve for a long time.

Edged board is right and traditional, but try to deliberately distort the contours, succumbing to the temptation to follow the natural pattern of the tree. Then you get a decorative fence as in this photo.

Well, if you also make cuts inside the boards, imitating fallen knots …

Several vertical supports (not necessarily wooden) and trimming boards. This is all that is required to create such a decorative fence.

Do you think that a massive beam with a rib of 20 cm was used for the supports of this decorative fence? Not necessarily.

It is quite enough to strengthen a metal profile with a square section in the ground and sheathe it with a board.

Here, something like this 🙂 Cheaper and more durable than burying a heavy wooden pole in the ground.

For fencing front gardens and flower beds, such a fence made of figured sawn boards is suitable. In order to prevent a lot of ornate elements from looking too monotonous, some of them were painted in a slightly darker tone.

By the way, round timber and firewood can also become a fence for some time …

Do you know how to weld metal? Then the iron fence is your option.

By the way, a decorative fence can be grown. The fastest result can be achieved with willow, but in the end, almost any tree will do. The main thing is to know the secret: in order for the trunks to grow together at the intersections, the bark is cut off at the points of contact, and the joints themselves are tightly pulled with twine.

What else to read on the site:

What is a pergola: it is a canopy designed as a support for climbing greenery in order to create shading. It arose as a forced solution for open terraced gardens and regular parks in the 17th-17th centuries. The main purpose of pergolas in those days was shelter from midday summer …

Beautiful benches and benches

Oh, how good is the rest in the summer garden! Especially if it’s a hot afternoon, and in the shady coolness under a tree, a comfortable bench is comfortably located …And even if your garden is small, you should not limit yourself to just one such object for a short rest. Pumpkin seeds or «Have you planted a pumpkin?»

Every autumn my grandmother spread a sheet on the stove, poured a mountain of pumpkin seeds on it and dried them. By the spring, these seeds could not be found in the bins — they ate everything during the winter. I didn’t understand such fun, because it was much more convenient to eat sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds …
